Livesey Abar

Administrative & Policy Intern

Livesey is an Administrative & Policy Intern with Richman Law & Policy. She is passionate about the decarceration movement, sustainable and just food systems, and the transformative possibilities of animal law.

Previously, Livesey worked in communications with VisionSpring, advocating for low- and middle-income communities in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa neglected by normative eyecare and health paradigms. Additionally, she interned with the Wild Bird Fund in New York City, rescuing and rehabilitating wild birds and mammals in the nexus of human-animal interaction.

Livesey received her B.A. with Honors from Wesleyan University, where she pursued sociology, environmental studies, and animal studies. In support of her degree, Livesey authored an honors thesis interrogating sociological knowledge production and its role in legitimizing aggressively punitive, discriminatory, and violent policing and carceral policies.
